1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the EuroTech Federation website and services ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access or use our Platform.

These Terms comply with EU consumer protection laws, including the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and applicable French law.

2. Description of Service

EuroTech Federation provides a networking platform connecting students, universities, and companies in the European tech ecosystem. Our services include:

• Fellow directory and community networking
• Event management and announcements
• Partner showcase and opportunities
• University network and resources
• Application and membership management

3. User Accounts and Registration

3.1 Account Creation

To access certain features, you must create an account using LinkedIn OAuth authentication. By creating an account, you represent that:

• You are at least 16 years of age (GDPR minimum age)
• All information you provide is accurate and current
• You will maintain the accuracy of your information
• You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach.

3.3 Account Roles

User accounts are assigned roles with different access levels:

• PENDING: New users awaiting approval
• FELLOW: Approved community members
• FOUNDER: Startup founders with content management access
• TEAM: EuroTech team members with administrative access
• ADMIN: Full administrative access

4. Acceptable Use

4.1 Permitted Use

You may use the Platform for:

• Networking with other community members
• Accessing events and opportunities
• Managing your Fellow profile (if applicable)
• Participating in community activities

4.2 Prohibited Use

You agree NOT to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Infringe on intellectual property rights
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform
• Scrape, harvest, or collect user data without permission
• Impersonate another person or organization
• Spam, harass, or abuse other users
• Use the Platform for commercial purposes without authorization
• Upload inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content
• Circumvent security measures or access controls

5. User Content

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you submit (profile information, images via URLs, etc.). By submitting content, you grant EuroTech Federation a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content on the Platform.

5.2 Content Standards

All content must:

• Be accurate and not misleading
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations
• Respect intellectual property rights
• Not contain hate speech, discrimination, or harassment
• Not contain explicit, violent, or illegal material

5.3 Content Moderation

We reserve the right to review, modify, or remove any content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines. We are not obligated to monitor content but may do so to ensure compliance.

6. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with GDPR and other applicable data protection laws.

By using the Platform, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Platform Content

All content on the Platform (excluding user-generated content) is owned by EuroTech Federation and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

"EuroTech Federation" and related logos are trademarks of EuroTech Federation. You may not use these trademarks without prior written permission.

7.3 Copyright Infringement

• Description of the copyrighted work
• Location of the infringing content
• Your contact information
• Statement of good faith belief
• Statement of accuracy and authority

8. Third-Party Services

The Platform integrates with third-party services:

• LinkedIn: For authentication (OAuth)
• Google Forms: For applications
• Luma: For event management
• Vercel Analytics: For usage statistics

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or their practices.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Warranties of non-infringement
• Warranties that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of content

Note: This disclaimer does not affect your statutory rights as an EU consumer under applicable consumer protection laws.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EUROTECH FEDERATION SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
• Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your account
• Damages caused by third-party services or content
• Damages from errors, bugs, or service interruptions

Note: This limitation does not affect your statutory rights under mandatory EU consumer protection laws, including rights related to defective products or services.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless EuroTech Federation, its officers, directors, members, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Platform
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any law or regulation
• Your violation of third-party rights
• Content you submit or share

12. Termination

12.1 By You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at contact@eurotech-federation.com or through your account settings (when available).

12.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
• Abuse or harass other users
• Pose a security risk to the Platform

12.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

You have the right to reject changes by discontinuing use of the Platform.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of France and the European Union. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the French courts, subject to mandatory EU consumer protection laws that may grant you additional rights.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Invalid provisions shall be replaced with valid provisions that most closely reflect the original intent.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and EuroTech Federation regarding use of the Platform.
